Hike high into the mountains with a light rucksack on your back. The Best of Wandern (BoW) community is a perfect blend of nature and technique, a network of hiking trails and tours and modern equipment.  BoW is a cooperation of European regions renowned for hiking, who work collaboratively and with suppliers of outdoor equipment, to supply information and literature, free of charge, to guests hiking in their regions.

BoW, is the only hiking cooperation in Europe which provides a complete service for walkers. This includes up to the minute information on everything ranging from different destinations, retailers of outdoor equipment, travel companies, on-line suppliers of hiking equipment to interactive maps. All in one place, so to speak. The regions have their own „Test Centre“ where hikers can borrow, free of charge, best quality equipment and take advantage of the exceptional service on offer.

"Best of Wandern" enables hikers to enjoy a fantastic holiday in Europe’s most beautiful hiking regions. The cooperation consists of, to date, 13 European regions in Germany, Austria, France, Belgium and Luxemburg famous for hiking and walking. These regions work in collaboration with manufactuers of hiking equipment, travel companies and on-line equipment retailers to ensure that guests enjoy memorable walking holidays. The regions work together and promote one another as part of the collaboration.

„Come and join us – We have all the equipment you need." Visitors to one of the Best of Wandern regions benefit from services provided by the various „Test Centres“.  Test the latest hiking poles, or, in bad weather, proper hiking umbrellas. Here you can borrow snow shoes and explore a winter wonderland, or embark on a discovery tour of a special kind with a pair of binoculars. Or you can just set off on a hiking tour and feel you are properly equipped wearing modern brand-name hiking boots, carrying quality rucksacks and child carriers and with coats of the quality suitable for completing an 8000 m ascent. GPS devices as well as software for your tours are, of course, available too.
