Salt Mine Hallstatt
The whole family becomes a research and discovery team in the salt mines - and this in any weather!
Following the tracks of 7000 years of salt excavation, you can discover relics from the past during your exploration. Take the 64 meter long mega slide down to the underground Salt Lake and then take the "Grubenbahn" train back out into the daylight.
The Hallstatt Upper Valley - The Cradle of Humanity!
After a short and comfortable ride up with the Salzberg cable car, guests have the option of taking the 14 meter high panorama lift up onto the viewing bridge. This new bridge connects the Rudolfsturm (Restaurant with a terrace and wonderful view) and the walk-in grave and therefore crosses the entire plateau.
Viewing Platform - World Heritage View
This view of the whole area meets all expectations; a special "World Heritage View" can be seen from a bird's eye perspective since the middle of August 2013 - directly by the Rudolfsturm. It is fully accessible for everyone. The platform is a wonderful way to round off an already fascinating visit to the Hallstatt Salt Mines and provides you with unforgettable views over the UNESCO Hallstatt/Dachstein-Salzkammergut World Heritage region.
In the "Knappenhaus"...
... the entrance building to the Hallstatt Salt Mines also provides you with interesting little details about the work and social history of the Hallstatt people from the 19th Century.
Audio guides: There are audio guides available at the Salt Mine ticket office in 7 different languages and can be borrowed for a small rental fee. These give you more information at specific info points above ground.
