Swimming and bathing

They are not just beautiful to look at .... during the summer months when the sun shines from the heavens, our lakes are oases of calm and relaxation.

The Salzkammergut with its 76 lakes is a real paradise for those seeking rest and recuperation. The lakes glisten in the sunshine, and attract visitors to come and stay. The two lakes of the Dachstein Salzkammergut World Heritage Region are a really good tip for a perfect day out. Lake Hallstatt is elongated and fjord-like and has many quiet, hidden areas which are perfect for relaxation, whilst the Gosau Lake relects the majestic Dachstein throughout the summer months.

These lakes are not typical of the other lakes of the Salzkammergut with bath-water temperatures. There is no charge for access to the lakeside bathing areas in Hallstatt and Gosau.
