How do I bake Linzer Augen?

Linzer Augen are known beyond the Holiday Region Dachstein Salzkammergut and are a must-have not only for the Advent season and Christmas, but also for every year-round biscuit platter. Here you will learn how to bake them.

You need these ingredients

Fpr approx. 30 pieces of Linzer Augen

  • 200g powdered sugar
  • 400g butter
  • 600g flour
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • lemon peel
  • 100g jam for the coating

This is how you bake the Linzer Augen

Mix all the ingredients to a smooth dough. Let it rest in the fridge for 1 hour. Then roll out the dough to a thickness of approx. 4 mm and cut out biscuits with holes as well as biscuits without holes for the base. Then bake the biscuits at 180 degrees for about 10 minutes. Then spread the jam on the biscuits, glue the upper and lower parts together and put some powdered sugar on top. The Linzer Augen are ready to enjoy!
