Three types of sport, two days and one challenge! The adventure for professionals and amateurs connects three disciplines. With the racer bike, on foot as well as by ski, the Dachstein Rush is taking the athlets from Wels over Gmunden up to the highest mountain of Upper Austria - the Dachstein.
Dachstein Rush - the peak of YOUR season
The event is starting on April 5th, 2017. Just a few minutes after sun rise the athlets from all over Europe are going on the racing trail which is 150km long, from Wels to Obertraun. The trail is taking them alon the river Traun and through nice towns, along the lake Traunsee, Attersee and the lake Hallstatt. In Obertraun they are changing the bike against their running shoes and after a short break in the guest garden of the restaurant Höllwirt they are running up on the peak of the Dachstein Krippenstein. Arriving at the snow line, they need to walk up 1600m of altitude to the peak of the Krippenstein. Now they are on their first stage aim., the Lodge on the Krippenstein.
The second stage from this hard and long tour takes the athlets to the Simonyhut, where the Dachstein glacier is situated. Secured from mountain professionals they are climbing up on the peak of the Dachstein. On the peak which is about 2995m high, they can enjoy the amazing view and their peak triumph.
The bike trail
From Wels they are going over Lambach till Gmunden near lake Traunsee. In the oldtimer museum in Altmünster, the host is waiting for athlets and offers food to get some more power for the next few hours.
All together the biketrail is 130 km long and has an altitude of almost 750 high meters. Perfect to get in the mood for the peak run.
On the mountain
From the restaurant Höllwirt the trail takes them to the valley station of theDachstein Krippenstein cable car and further on to the snow line on the mountain.
The trail up is 11 km long and has an altitude of 1600 high meters and needs to be accomplished till the end of the day. The overnight stay will be on the Lodge at Krippenstein.
After the crossing of the glacier the trail takes the athlets up on the peak of the Dachstein, the highest mountain of Upper Austria.
