**In summer, the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car not only takes you to the [Schönbergalm](https://dachstein.salzkammergut.at/en/oesterreich-poi/detail/401219/naturerlebnispark-schoenbergalm.html), the [Dachstein Giant Ice Caves](https://dachstein.salzkammergut.at/en/oesterreich-poi/detail/400756/dachstein-rieseneishoehle.html) and to the [Mammut Cave](https://dachstein.salzkammergut.at/en/oesterreich-poi/detail/401363/mammuthoehle.html) without any need to flex those muscles, it also takes you to Obertraun’s local mountain, the Krippenstein at 2100m.**

You don’t just get to enjoy a fantastic panorama view here, there are also a great deal of hikes suitable for anyone. For instance, we recommend a hike to the spectacular **["5fingers" viewing platform](https://dachstein.salzkammergut.at/en/oesterreich-poi/detail/201659/aussichtsplattform-5fingers.html)** - 5 platforms protrude beyond a 500m drop! – a real buzz – or head to the Welterbespirale, which, as well as the fantastic view, also invites you to take it easy on the cosy, relaxing loungers.
The 3rd section of the route takes you to the Gjaidalm station, a perfect starting point for additional hikes on the Dachstein plateau!

The Dachstein Krippenstein is open daily in winter 2026/2027\* from December 19, 2026 to March 29, 2027!
Mountain lifts: Winter operating times
Section 1: from 8.30 am to 4.50 pm
Section 2: from 8.40 am to 4.40 pm
Section 3: from 8.50 am to 4.30 pm
Cable cars run every quarter of an hour (every 15 minutes)!
Lifts: from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm
Slope closure: 5.00 pm to 8.30 am\*\*
*Note: Partial operation in the off-season!*
