Brave visitors can climb the large belly of the monster, and a view from the mouth of the Dachstein shark offers **a fantastic view** of the Dachstein glacier. The Dachstein shark is intended to show that even the Dachstein massif was covered in seawater millions of years ago and that prehistoric sharks lived in this area. The new visitor magnet was sunk into **[Lake Hallstatt](http://dachstein.salzkammergut.at/detail/article/der-hallstaettersee.html)** in August 2013, only to be spectacularly recovered by **helicopter** a few days later and then flown to its final destination.
