In winter, the long-drawn Goiserer Valley wraps itself in a white blanket of snow and turns into a winter sports resort away from the hustle and bustle of the Alps. The birthplace of Hubert von Goisern gently hugs Lake Hallstatt in the north and the imperial city of Bad Ischl in the south.
Fans of the gentle winter will get their money's worth with tobogganing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or ski tours. The Höhenloipen am Predigstuhl offer panoramic cross-country ski trails, while the Nordic Centre not only has cross-country ski trails but also a ski jump. A variety of snowshoe hikes and ski tours allow you to soak up nature and gently enjoy the panorama of the Inner Salzkammergut.
The Trockentann toboggan run, which not only has a family run, but also a World Cup run that is also a challenge for tobogganing professionals, provides real fun.
If you do want to strap on your skis, the Dachstein West ski region in Gosau and the Dachstein Krippenstein in Obertraun are just a 20-minute drive away.
