No wonder, as the caps are supposed to bring good luck in the coming year and protect against natural disasters.** Procession of the bell ringers ------------------------------ By ringing the bells, **the "Glöckner" chase away evil spirits from the valleys, forests and their houses**, and it is said that the more men take part in this procession, the more luck the district can expect in the coming year. The **processions** take place on the **evening of January 5th** ; **white figures** with **jingling bell belts** and magnificent **colorful light caps** on their heads walk past numerous onlookers. The **cap** consists of a wooden frame with thin rods, which is covered with black clay paper. In the past, cardboard was used instead of clay paper, as the oldest Glöckler caps from 1906 prove. **Motifs** are either cut out of this cover or punched out and glued behind with colored paper. The edges are usually finished with white paper fringes (made from tissue paper).
