Traditional Festival "Almabtrieb"

Summer is over and so we decorate the cows and calves in traditional garlands and drive them down to the valley.

"Almabtrieb" Plankensteinalm in Gosau at Dachstein

Today the cows, calves and horses are decorated on the alpine pasture to be driven back down to the valley after a long summer. A cosy conclusion with music awaits locals and guests.

Also the typical alpine delicacies "Schneeballn und Arausch" are waiting for their connoisseurs!

With the Gosau slow train you have the possibility to get to the alp without any effort. At the top you can enjoy the beautiful alpine pasture, surrounded by the overwhelming mountain scenery.

From 1:00 p.m. you can watch the animals decorating the pasture.
At 2:30 p.m. the downhill run into the valley begins.
