Dachstein Rush 2019
A two day long sporting challenge and alpine adventure-
The big sport event of spring 2019 - the battle of the three disciplines
150 km on bikes, on foot and on skis, the Dachstein Rush takes you from Wels up to the 2995 m high summit of the Dachstein.
This is no race - the experience in itself is the greatest challenge of all.
On the 4th of April, athletes and competitors from all over Europe will start their 150 km long bike journey from Wels to Obertraun by the Dachstein, beginning shortly after sunrise. The route leads along the Traun river towards the Hallstatt Lake.
A short break will be had in Höllwirt in Obertraun, where bikes will be swapped for walking shoes. From there, the first part of the trek to the Krippenstein will be done on foot. Starting at the snow line, the rest of the journey is completed on skis.
To the goal of the first section you will climb to approx. 1600 metres in altitude.
The base for the first night is the Lodge, which lies only a few metres away from the summit spiral of the Krippenstein.
The second section takes you from the Lodge past the Gjaid Alm and Simony hut, onwards to the Dachstein glacier.
Safety will be overseen by an experienced group of state-approved mountain guides.
After the glacier crossing there is a short climb up to the summit of the Dachstein, with its impressive 2995 m.
