Breakast in a traditional wooden hut on a high mountain plateau: the perfect start to a day out in the Holiday Region Dachstein Salzkammergut

… apart from a wickedly good breakfast! Start your day with something a little different. Treat your body, mind and soul, and tickle your taste buds with regional food specialities, freshly prepared by local farmers. And all this in the heart of the stunning Dachstein massif. You will enjoy your hearty breakfast whilst listening to the sound of nature’s own orchestra. Delightful are the sounds of the cow bells and the humming of the bees amongst the colourful alpine plants and flowers. The singing of the many different birds adds to this delightful experience.

When and where can I have a breakfast on a hut?

Hiker's breakfast on the Sonnenalm

Join us for breakfast on the Sonnenalm at 1 580 m above sea level. Here you can sit and relax on the delightful sun terrace whilst enjoying uninterrupted views across the entire region. The view extends from the Dachstein to the Gosaukamm mountain range and as far as the majestic Großglockner. The Sonnenalm is very worthy of its name. Feel the warmth of the sunshine each day from 6:00 a.m. in the morning til 9:00 p.m. in the evening. Enjoy the first rays of sunshine with us and enjoy a delicious breakfast made from regional food products and using traditional recipes.The breakfast buffet includes an assortment of home made cakes.

Hiker's breakfast on the Gablonzer hut

The Gablonzer hut is just 10 minutes‘ walk from the Gosaukammbahn (cable car) summit station. Sitting on the sun terrace with panoramic views, you will spot the numerous mountain climbers making their way towards the Donnerkogel early in the morning. As part of your delicious Mountain Climbers‘ Breakfast you will receive a glass of sparkling wine. This will get your heart pumping as you start your day hiking in the mountains. Reaching your goal for the day will now be that little bit easier!

Hiker's breakfast on the Zwieselalm

It is an easy, 40 minute walk from the Gosaukammbahn cable car summit station to the Zwieselalm hut. From the mountain hut which is almost 300 years old, there are lovely views of this extensive area of mountain pasture land. Relax and free yourself from the stresses and strains of everyday life. Revitalize body and soul as you enjoy a traditional breakfast served with home made „Muas“. The gentle sound of the cow bells rounds off this wonderful experience.

Bikers breakfast on the Zeishof hut

The Zeishof hut is reached after an approx. one-hour ride along the "Hornspitzrunde", starting from Pass Gschütt. You can reach the alp on foot via the "Herrenweg" and from the Falmberg hut along the forest road. Here you can really recover from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and recharge your batteries. The best way to do this is with a traditional breakfast accompanied by the ringing of cowbells.

A sunny breakfast on the Gjaid Alm

There is hardly a better way to start the day than to head for the mountain in the early hours of the morning. No matter if you are a walker, hiker, mountaineer, sun worshiper or simply connoisseur, there is the perfect breakfast for every taste. So start your day at the Dachstein Krippenstein in a completely different way. Pamper your body, mind and palate with a very special breakfast.

Breakfast is available at the Gjaid Alm (tel. +43 6131 596) on following dates:

every Saturday starting from 1 July 2023 to 30 September 2023, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

How much is an alpine breakfast on the hut and do I have to reserve a table?

One alpine breakfast per person, including one alpine coffee/tea mug, costs € 18.00. If you want another alpine coffee/tea mug or a snack board, the price is € 20.00. Please book in advance with the respective hut or alpine pasture so that you can enjoy your breakfast to the fullest. The vouchers for breakfast are available at all tourist offices in the Inner Salzkammergut, i.e. in Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt, Hallstatt, Obertraun and Gosau at Dachstein.
