Whoo-hoo...soon it will start! We are going on vacation, all together! Mom, Dad, Klaus and me. I am sooooo looking forward to it!!!
That's what Maria tells her classmates in the break and is really looking forward to her vacation. Maria and her family are going to the Holiday Region Dachstein Salzkammergut and are really enjoying themselves. Mom, Dad, Klaus and Maria have often been to Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt, Hallstatt, Obertraun and Gosau at Dachstein and know the region very well. Here are their vacation tips for you and your family!
Wuhuuu....it'll be fun again. In winter we always go on holiday for one week. In Gosau, Dachstein West, there are so many lifts and also a separated slope only for kids called the "Brumsiland". There I also learned to ski. Klaus tries it this year in Obertraun, at the "Krippipark" at Dachstein Krippenstein. There we will sleep for the first time in a hut. I'm so looking forward to build a snowman!
And we always go tobogganing! The last time I went with dad, Klaus with mom. Of course dad and I were faster. Mom always brakes so much. This year dad and I also try cross-country skiing. Klaus is still too small. Mom and Klaus go to the indoor swimming pool during this time.
Winter holidays with the family
I love horses! That's why we always take a sleigh ride. Klaus and I always have to put on a lot of clothes so that we are not cold. But the horse-drawn sleigh man always gives us a blanket which is so warm. Mom and Dad are always amazed how beautiful the winter landscape is in the Dachstein Salzkammergut.
Summer holidays with the family
Klaus and I like hiking a lot. You see so much. Mom and Dad always tell us stories about the animals we see. And when we are finished with the hike, we can order a "Kaiserschmarrn" at the hut together. Sooo delicious!
Mom and Dad have made a list so that they won't forget anything when we go swimming to Lake Hallstatt, Lake Gosau or the outdoor and indoor swimming pools in the region. They also always say that these are almost the only lakes to which you still have free access - even to the beach resorts. That's cool, because there are slides and climbing towers in the lidoes and sometimes you can rent boats.
Here is a "bath packing list" of mum and dad (the swimming diapers are for Klaus, not for me):
- swim trunks, bikini, swimsuit (at least 2 per child), swimming nappies, bathing shoes, swim wings, swimming goggles or diving goggles.
- towels, picnic blanket
- water toys: swimming noodles, swimming tyres, diving ring
- for sensitive children: nose clamp or earplug
- sun cream (high factor!), insect spray, parasol
- drinks and snacks
Where can I rent hiking equipment for children?
In the tourist office in Gosau at Dachstein you will find the Best of Wandern Testcenter, where you can rent hiking boots, walking sticks, snowshoes, etc... for adults. Especially for toddlers there are also child carriers available.
Children's carriages can also be borrowed free of charge from the mountain station of the Gosaukamm cable car.
So nothing keeps you from hiking with your family!
