Tobogganing and Sledge Rides
Horn carriage as godfather
The horn sled, the heavy winter wagon of the lumberjacks, was the inspiration here. In winter, the lumberjacks were sweating uphill with their sledges to bring their "ride" down into the valley in a rapid and often dangerous journey. Meanwhile they belong to every household in the Salzkammergut region.
Trockentann toboggan run
in Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt
The toboggan run in Bad Goisern was first mentioned in 1910 and today this cozy winter sport is not only appreciated by the locals. At a length of 2 km fast-paced tobogganing run in the Nordic center at the village of Ramsau near Bad Goisern tobogganing fun is guaranteed!
After a climb of about 40 minutes and overcoming 300 meters in altitude you can reach the toboggan huts, which are open during the winter months at good snow conditions. For the run you have the choice between the light-up toboggan run - the former world championship track from 1992 - or the unlit ascent toboggan run.
Parking is available in the ski jump area of the Nordic center in Ramsau and at the beginning of the ascent toboggan run.
Refreshments
After the climb, a stop in one of the cozy huts is recommended before the toboggan fun begins. You can choose between the toboggan hut at the top of the Trockentann toboggan run and the Sperrer hut, which are open in winter with good snow conditions.
Rent a sledge
Sledges are available free of charge at the parking lot of the unlit ascending toboggan run. They are placed in a hut right on the parking lot. Depending on availability, a sledge can be taken and put back after your tobogganing fun.
Please take note at your tobogganing fun:
The Trockentann toboggan run is closed between 12:00 and 13:00 and between 17:00 and 18:30 for the toboggan run, because at this time the landlords drive to the huts by car.
