Dachstein Giant Ice Cave in Obertraun on foot of the Krippenstein
The ice palaces in the Dachstein are among the greatest natural wonders of the Alps. People from all over the world come to see the subterranean ice landscape in the Dachstein.
Mighty cave glaciers, icebergs and ice chapels are a welcome contrast to the outside world on hot summer days. On cool rainy days, the caves are a safe haven for people and animals - just as they were thousands of years ago.
Caves are like ancient documents engraved with the changes of the earth. The cave guide will tell you about the secrets of the earth's history that scientists have been able to unravel here.
The cave museum in Obertraun can be visited free of charge during opening hours.
