Fishing in the Mühlbach

Fly-fishing in the centre of Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt is possible in the Mühlbach, a tributary of the river Traun. Due to the calm running water there is a good amount of fish, which can reach a weight of up to four kilograms.
Fly fishing in the middle of Bad Goisern
The 2.7 km long stretch of the Mühlbach is easily accessible thanks to a width of three to a maximum of ten meters and a depth of up to two meters and is ideally suited for fly-fishing. Wading through the stream is allowed, but wad fishing is forbidden.
Fish occurrences in the Mühlbach
Due to the low water level fluctuations, the Mühlbach also has a good amount of fish. There are mainly brown trouts, which can weigh up to four kilograms, rainbow trouts, lake trouts, brook trouts, graylings and pikes.
The taking of a maximum of two fish per day is allowed with the day ticket, annual license holders may take a maximum of 30 salmonids per year. Only fly fishing is allowed, but only with artificial flies.
