The Goiserer Traun is an ideal water for fly-fishing. Unspoilt with numerous deep pools, hairpin bends and long stretches of trickle, it stretches from Lake Hallstatt via Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt to Linz, where it flows into the Danube. The exact boundary of the Goiserer Traun starts at the "Holzwehr" at Steegwirt at Lake Hallstatt downstream to 100 m above the Goiserer bridge.
The Traun has an excellent fish stock. Besides brown trouts, rainbow trouts and graylings, the coveted lake trouts of considerable weight are also part of the fish population.
A maximum of 2 fish a day can be taken from the daily menu. Only fly-fishing with artificial flies is allowed.
With an annual licence you may catch a maximum of 30 salmonids per year. However, there is also a 3 or 5 day licence.
Terms of use: Fishing is only allowed with a fly rod with dry fly or nymph without barbs. Additionally it is allowed to fish with a streamer without barbs.
