Description: The Jochwandwarte is currently closed for work. It is strictly forbidden to enter;
Built in 1860 by Prince Lichtenstein, the Jochwand viewing platform offers you magnificent views across the Goiserer Valley and Lake Hallstatt to the majestic mountain peaks of the Dachstein Salzkammergut World Heritage region. An unforgettable highlight for nature lovers!
Sure-footedness is required for this hike over the Hammerberg to Weißenbach. According to legend, a giant split the valley of Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt by hitting the mountains with a hammer.
You can reach the viewing platform via a path from Weißenbach or via Unterjoch (Rassingmühle, Hanuschhof) or the Maiswaldwarte (Soleleitungsweg).
The hike takes around 3 to 4 hours, depending on your fitness level. You walk on gravel paths, short stretches of asphalt, forest roads and 70% on a natural hiking trail.
The hike is also listed as a Salzalpentour and is therefore a certified premium hiking trail by the German Hiking Institute and therefore entitled to bear the German Hiking Seal.
The trail is marked with the Salzalpensteig mark ings. (Blue and yellow markings) These markings can be easily followed and nothing stands in the way of carefree hiking enjoyment.
As always, make sure you are sure-footed and have a head for heights.
Experience a 360° panoramic tour through Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt...
The Jochwand viewing platform is a popular hiking destination from spring to fall.
