Raising the Maypole in Obertraun

Every year on the last day/night in April people of the village Obertraun are raising the maypole.
customs in the Inner Salzkammergut
In the early afternoon, the maypole is felled, peeled and placed at the local community place.
It is traditionally raised with the help of muscular strength, by the Obertraun mountain rescuers and helpers.
From 06:00 p.m. sausages and drinks are served
After 07:00 p.m. the tree will be decorated before setting up
Shortly before dark, the tree (about 30 meters) is standing in front of the municipal office and will be guarded by the native guys.
Special thanks to the women of the mountain rescue men, who keep tying wreaths and garlands.
