The Hallstatt Corpus Christi Rifle Club will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary on this day and cordially invites all friends, guests, and supporters to join them in celebrating this special milestone.

Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary & 40th Anniversary of the Hallstatt Corpus Christi Rifle Club – Anniversary Celebration on August 15, 2026

On August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary—the patronal feast of the parish church—will be celebrated. On this same day, the Hallstatt Corpus Christi Rifle Club will also celebrate its 40th anniversary and cordially invites everyone to join them on Saturday, August 15, 2026, to celebrate this special milestone together with friends, guests, and supporters.

The day of celebration begins at 10:00 a.m. with a solemn Mass at the parish and pilgrimage church in Hallstatt. During the service, thanks will be given to God for 40 years of the Fronleichnamsschützen, living and deceased members will be remembered, and God’s blessing for the future of the community will be sought.

The anniversary takes on special significance because it coincides with the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, on which the Hallstatt Parish and Pilgrimage Church also celebrates its patronal feast. Thus, the church festival, the association’s anniversary, and the vibrant village community come together to form a special day marked by faith, tradition, and solidarity.

40 Years of Living Tradition

The history of the Corpus Christi Shooters dates back a long way. The Hallstatt Corpus Christi procession was first mentioned in a document as early as 1623. Even back then, the Blessed Sacrament was accompanied by celebratory gun salutes. After the practice of firing celebratory salutes was later banned and this tradition fell into oblivion, it was revived in 1986 on the initiative of retired Pastor August Stögner, together with dedicated residents of Hallstatt.

For four decades now, the Corpus Christi Gunners have been an integral part of church and community life in Hallstatt. With their traditional ceremonial salutes, they accompany the Corpus Christi procession as well as numerous church festivals, and they also provide a dignified and festive setting for special occasions in the market town.

Parade and a Relaxed Morning Get-Together

After the festive Mass, the Hallstatt Salinenmusikkapelle accompanies the procession in a solemn march from the church across the Seeauerbühel to the festival grounds at the Pfannhauserbühel.

There, Deputy Mayor Alfred Gamsjäger and retired Pastor August Stögner will jointly tap the first keg of beer before the anniversary celebration continues in a convivial atmosphere.

The subsequent morning beer gathering with live music guarantees top-notch entertainment. There will also be plenty of culinary delights on offer: In addition to the popular crispy grilled chicken and the “Kesselheißen” (a local specialty known for many years), visitors can also look forward to delicious cheese spaetzle, other delicacies, and refreshing drinks.
