A ride on the slow train or Almtaxi is ideal for a family excursion . A leisurely ride to the Iglmoosalm or the Schleifsteinbrüchen/Löckenmoos.

Regular trips with guided hike:

Half-day trip with guided hike through the "Löckenmoos" blanket bog

The slow train or an alpine cab travels along forest roads through the beautiful landscape at approx. 1,400 m above sea level. The starting point for the guided hike is the Schleifsteinhütten. From there it goes through the wild and romantic Löckenmoos. The unique high moor with its small moor lake is a real experience for young and old. On a tour through the moor, with its impressive view of the surrounding mountains, you can learn and experience all kinds of things. The flora and fauna found in this area is unique. Along the marked trail through the "Latschen" (mountain pines), past the small Löckensee lake, towards the Gosaukamm. Along the way, you will always find information boards with interesting and interesting details about the local flora and fauna.

From May to October every Tuesday (with guided tour possible) and Sunday (only ascent and descent):
Meeting point: 09:30 am Gosau sports field
Return: approx. 16:00

"World heritage hike Löckenmoos-Plankensteinalm"

The ascent begins with the slow train or the Almtaxi and leads through a journey of discovery of 2 nature reserves. The guided hike leads past the grinding stone quarries to the high moor of the Löckenmoos, then continues to the Plankensteinalm. The tour continues to the Geißwand with a magnificent panoramic view over Hallstatt and Obertraun.

After the ascent, hut host Andrea will be waiting for you at the Iglmoosalm with lots of delicacies. During your stay at the hut, you also have numerous hiking opportunities.
