An extensive network of cross-country ski trails of all levels of difficulty in Bad Goisern at lake Hallstatt, Gosau at Dachstein and Obertraun let you experience winter from its most beautiful side. On the Predigstuhl with over 1,000 meters, there is a wide range of cross-country ski runs, in the Gosau valley it is above all the views of the surrounding mountains that enchant. A special highlight is certainly the high-altitude trail on the Dachstein Krippenstein - at 1,700 m you glide through the quiet mountain world and enjoy the cold, clear air, and the warming rays of the sun.

The romantic side of the region can be explored through the snowy landscape and along icy streams. The 5fingers viewing platform on the 2,100 m high Dachstein Krippenstein provides spectacular views. Salzwelten Hallstatt
If you want to get to know the culture and history of the world heritage region, the Hallstatt Salt mine is the place for you. High above Hallstatt, you follow the tracks of prehistoric miners down into the tunnels of the Salzberg. A laser show and the 3D bronze cinema not only amaze, but they also bring knowledge about the history of salt mining closer. Pure adrenaline is offered by the 64 m long miner's slide, which is the longest in Europe. A special highlight is the "World Heritage View" viewing platform, which is high above the roofs of historic Hallstatt.

Hand.Werk.Haus Salzkammergut – Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt
In the centre of Bad Goisern a. H., in the Neuwildenstein Castle, handicrafts from the Salzkammergut are presented. The colourful variety of local handicrafts can be experienced on three floors, with history as well as current contexts. Not only the masterpieces of the member companies, ranging from roofers to carpenters, from shoemakers to soap makers, from butchers to mustard makers, but also the people behind the traditional companies, some of which exist for 200 years, are presented.
