Dachstein Rush
The Dachstein Rush will take place again this year on the Krippenstein. Not to run according to the stopwatch, but to have a common experience on the mountain.
Bike, trail run and ski tour to the Dachstein
The starting signal will be given on August 27. Just a few minutes after sunrise, endurance athletes from all over Europe will set out on the 150-kilometre bike course from Bad Schallerbach to Obertraun at Dachstein. The route leads from the Upper Austrian town to the Salzkammergut - always along the Traun and past the picturesque Lake Traunsee, to the Lake Attersee and the Lake Hallstatt. In Obertraun, after a short rest in the garden of the Höllwirt, the field changes from the bikes to the running shoes and sets off on the first part of the route to the Dachstein Krippenstein. From the snow line, it continues on touring skis. In total there are about 1 600 metres in altitude difference to the first stage destination, the Simony hut at 2 200 m. This is also where the athletes spend the night.
The way to the summit of the Dachstein
The next day the second stage starts with the declared goal, the summit of the highest mountain in Upper Austria, the Dachstein. Secured by state-certified mountain guides, we cross the eternal ice. The highlight after a short climbing passage is the 2 995-meter-high summit of the Dachstein.
After a short break at the summit and a brief "enjoyment" of the unique view, the tour returns to the top station of the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car, which takes extreme sportsmen and women back to the Obertraun valley.
An adventure for hobby sportsmen and professionals
At the Dachstein Rush, amateur and professional athletes experience the great adventure together. The path is long and hard and not everyone will master it. The Dachstein Rush is expressly not a race. And yet all participants achieve top sporting performances. It is a bow to the sporting spirit, the mountain world and the human will. In the memory of two special days, the pictures from the most beautiful corners of the Holiday Region Dachstein Salzkammergut combine with the magnificent panorama of the Dachstein massif.
