A large fishing area stretches around Lake Hallstatt. Take your time and enjoy fishing in the Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut World Heritage Site. Enjoy beautiful hours at the lake and look forward to great catches in our fjord-like lake landscape.
Lake Hallstatt is one of the most mysterious lakes in Austria, with many stories and myths surrounding this legendary lake. Seen from the air, it is reminiscent of a Norwegian fjord. Reinanken (whitefish) have overtaken char - today the lake is one of the best whitefish lakes in the whole of Austria, although not so long ago it was still dominated by char. The municipalities of Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee and Obertraun extend around the lake, with Hallstatt on the western shore.
According to the Federal Forestry Office, magnet fishing is not permitted on Lake Hallstatt. Guests must contact the Federal Forests Real Estate Department for permission.
We have collected more fishing hot spots for you on the Dachstein Salzkammergut website.
