Fire protection in the Bad Goisern municipality is guaranteed by the 5 fire brigades. One of them is the St. Agatha Voluntary Fire Brigade, which can look back on a long history. The volunteer fire brigade was founded as early as 1879 after the "Agathawirt" caught fire from a lightning strike. Although the Goisern fire brigade moved in quickly, the building was a victim to the flames and the fire could only be stopped with great difficulty. Since the large and widely populated Goiserer valley was too big for only one fire brigade, another one was founded in St. Agatha.
From the age of 10 girls and boys can join the youth group of the volunteer fire brigade. The first youth group in St. Agatha already existed in 1964. Together, the young people learn to operate fire-fighting equipment, provide first aid, deal with cards and radio, recognize dangers and extinguish small fires. In addition to the training, entertainment is not neglected either. Excursions and youth camps promote camaraderie and bring variety.
The beer tent has been an autumn event highlight for 40 years. Visitors from all communities in the Salzkammergut are attracted. Most of the necessary food and services are obtained from local producers.
