There are, in total, ca. 40 km of cross country skiing trails in the broad Goisern valley. The trails are of appeal to both beginners and experienced cross country skiers.
The elevated trail by the Predigstuhl (1.000m) is very popular.

Challenging trails

The circular cross country trails are described as being easy to challenging in terms of difficulty, and there are stunning views across the Goisern valley towards Lake Hallstatt and mountain Dachstein.

Please take 6,5 km long, toll-free, panoramic road up to the "Höhenloipe" and you will find an information board with the cross country trails clearly indicated at the car park next to Lesehotel.

One of the most prominent features along the way is an impressive hanging bridge which was constructed as link to the "Flohwiesenschleife" trail.

Familienloipe - length 2,1 km 
Flohwiesen-Schleife - length 6,3 km
Roßmoosalmrunde - length 5,5 km 
Kriemoosalmrunde - length 7,5 km 
Murenschleife - length 8,3 km 

Additional valley trails:

  • St. Agatha trail - length 2.5 km 

  • Connecting trail Ramsau/Gschwandt/Stambach - length 2.5 km 

  • Ramsau trail - length 3.3 km easy and medium difficulty

Accessibility / arrival

You can reach the high-altitude trails in the Predigstuhl cross-country skiing area from the traffic circle in Bad Goisern via the 6.5 km long, toll-free panoramic road via Lasern and Wurmstein in the direction of Predigstuhl.

Winter tires are a basic requirement in the winter months, snow chains are recommended on snowy roads.

From Salzburg:
Federal highway B158 towards Bad Ischl
in Bad Ischl take the B145 Salzkammergut road towards Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee
from Linz:
A1 highway exit Regau on Salzkammergut road B145 direction Gmunden, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee
from Graz:
A9 highway exit Liezen onto B320
in Trautenfels turn onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 to Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee

By bus:
from Bad Ischl: bus in the direction of Lake Gosau, bus stop "Bad Goisern Mitte", approx. five minutes' walk
from Gosau: bus in the direction of Bad Ischl, bus stop "Bad Goisern Mitte", approx. five minutes' walk
afterwards ascent by cab possible

By train:
from Vienna/Linz/Salzburg to Attnang-Puchheim, change to train to Stainach-Irdning
from Klagenfurt/Graz to Stainach-Irdning, change trains to Attnang-Puchheim
get off at the train station "Bad Goisern"
afterwards ascent by cab possible
