In earlier times, St. Agatha had aspirations to become an independent town. It is therefore not surprising that there are two Catholic churches in Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee there is a second Catholic church.
The little church was built under priest Coloan Mühlwanger and first mentioned in a document in 1395. The high altar is made of grotto and sandstone. Behind it you can see a secco painting (this technique involves painting on dry plaster) The two side altars date from 1674 and 1685. On the way from Bad Goisern to St. Agahta are the four so-called Stambach chapels with sculptural depictions of the rosary. The crucifixion group by the Mondese master Meinrad Guggenbichler
A visit to the church in St. Agatha can be ideally combined with a short pilgrimage trail along small chapels starting from Bad Goisern. This pilgrimage trail starts at the chapel of the Stieger joinery and continues via Stambach and ends at the church of St. Agatha
you can also marvel at the church nativity scene of the Kripperlverein.
