The oldest "Paarhof" (farm with 2 storey buildings) in the Salzkammergut with mill, saw mill, smokery and stables.

Located between the old salt market Lauffen and the spa town of Bad Goisern, is the open-air museum Anzenaumühle. This so-called "Paarhofverband" with residential building, stable stile and attached saw and mill looks back on an ancient history. The Traunkirchner Urbar occupies today's open-air museum as the oldest house of the settlement Anzenau with the year 1325. Continuously the history of the "Anzenaumühle" can be traced since 1584. A first view of the region-typical Paarhofs comes from a copper engraving Merians from the year 1646.

Today, the "Anzenaumühle" in their appearance represents the building stock of the early 18th century, to which a sawmill, a plaster and a bathhouse were added. The "Anzenaumühle" had thus become a considerable business enterprise, in which various industries were exercised.

In addition to agriculture, milling and sawing, it was the gypsum preparation and the black bakery that contributed to the fame of the "Anzenaumühle". Measured by these different economic sectors, the open-air museum today represents a monument of agriculture, industry, technology and the economy of the inner Salzkammergut. Until 1960, the mill itself was in operation with its affiliated bakery.
