The Christmas market on the market square in the World Heritage town of Hallstatt is the highlight of the Advent season every year. Here, you can experience living customs and regional Advent traditions up close.

Authentic Customs and Living Traditions

You can experience all of this at the Hallstatt Christmas Market—musical entertainment, crafts and arts and crafts, children’s crafts and a children’s magic show, traditional delicacies, cookies, mulled wine, and punch invite you to linger in the World Heritage Site of Hallstatt.
The three-dimensional nativity scene —designed by the HTBLA Hallstatt — and a large, illuminated Christmas tree help convey the cozy atmosphere of the pre-Christmas season in this World Heritage region.
As part of this year’s Christmas market, there will also be a children’s magic show at 2:00 p.m. at the Kulturhaus Hallstatt and a Christmas-themed children’s craft workshop (for ages 5 and up) from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Seeauer Restaurant – Heritage Hotel Hallstatt.

This is where locals and visitors come together to experience the peaceful and contemplative Advent season. As you take a leisurely stroll through the market, lovingly decorated stalls invite you to marvel and linger. Traditional crafts, artistic Christmas tree ornaments, and exquisite handmade gifts set the mood for Christmas. A mug of mulled wine, fragrant punch, or hot tea warms you from the inside, while regional delicacies offer a taste of home.
