A place of joy surrounded by silent nature and tranquility.
This name originates from a legend - once upon a time, wild (wild here means "shy" or "timid") virgins lived in a crevice on the Vordere Grubalm - the so-called "Wildfrauenloch". There they hung their laundry out to dry in the sun. They came down to the valley to help the farmers with their work when the grain was being cut.
The entire Löckenmoos with the small Löckensee lake in its romantic location at around 1,400 m, in the middle of a high moor, could actually be described as a place of happiness .
The area is a perfect place for meditation as it is so remote and completely peaceful. Lie down, open your eyes and watch the clouds floating in the sky. You will notice the birdsong and feel the gentle wind. Feel the energy of the thousands of centuries-old moorland below you. Sink deep into its mossy cushion as you immerse yourself in nature. The Löckensee is the perfect place to revitalize body and soul and is located on the 10,000-year-old Löckenmoos, high above the quarries of Gosau, surrounded by mountain pines and moorland vegetation.
Experience a 360° panoramic tour through the Gosau valley...
The "Wildfrauenloch" can be visited according to the weather between May and October.
