The latest attraction on the Heilbronn circular hiking trail is the Dachstein shark, which is 8 meters long and is one of the sights on the Dachstein Krippenstein.
The popular photo spot is just a 45-minute walk along the Heilbronn circular hiking trail from the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car mountain station. Brave visitors can climb the large belly of the monster, and a view from the mouth of the Dachstein shark offers a fantastic view of the Dachstein glacier.
The Dachstein shark is intended to show that even the Dachstein massif was covered in seawater millions of years ago and that prehistoric sharks lived in this area. The new visitor magnet was sunk into Lake Hallstatt in August 2013, only to be spectacularly recovered by helicopter a few days later and then flown to its final destination.
