Enjoy an impressive boat trip on Lake Hallstatt.
Lake Hallstatt serves as the central hub connecting the Dachstein municipalities of Hallstatt, Obertraun, Bad Goisern, and Gosau, and boating has always played a vital role as a mode of transportation. But it’s also a treat for those who appreciate the finer things in life, because only from the lake do you have a unique view of the World Heritage site and the surrounding mountains of the Dachstein Salzkammergut region.
Since the train station in Hallstatt is located on the other side of the lake, there is a scheduled ferry service from the Hallstatt train station to Hallstatt Markt. The ferry “Stephanie” runs regularly throughout the year to connect with the trains. The Hallstatt-Markt to the train station route has been in operation since 1881 and remains the only boat service on an Austrian lake that continues to operate even during the winter months.
Hallstättersee Schifffahrt Hemetsberger GmbH, owned by the Hemetsberger family since the fall of 1967, operates a fleet of four ships.
