Dachstein West in Upper Austria will host an Alpine Ski World Cup event for the first time during the upcoming winter season.

The inaugural FIS Ski World Cup event at Dachstein West/Gosau will take place on December 28 and 29, featuring a women’s giant slalom and slalom on the Hornspitz World Cup course in the “Dachstein West” ski area.

The Dachstein West ski region in the Salzkammergut thus takes over from Lienz, which most recently hosted the women’s technical events on a biennial basis in conjunction with Semmering. With these two races taking place between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the Alpine Ski World Cup returns to Upper Austria after more than six years. The last women’s race in Upper Austria was held in 1992.

Bad Goisern Schedule

On Monday, December 28, 2026, the market square in Bad Goisern will become the gathering place for all ski fans!

Starting at 4:00 p.m. , the two DJs “2Tagesbart” will set the right mood during the warm-up .
At around 6:15 p.m., it’s time to clear the stage for the award ceremony for the women’s giant slalom and the distribution of bib numbers for the top 15 skiers in the slalom, which will take place on Tuesday, December 29, 2026, once again in Gosau!

And that’s when the real fun begins:
Starting around 7:30 p.m., the band “Folkshilfe” will really get the market square rocking.

Local clubs will be serving food and drinks right on the market square.

Skiing, music, good food, and that authentic Salzkammergut vibe—be there when Bad Goisern becomes the World Cup hub on Monday, December 28, 2026, starting at 4:00 p.m.!
