Enjoy nature on the Dachstein Krippenstein with all your senses

The narrow Mammoth Cave is made of larch wood and allows you your first glimpses into an amazing underground labyrinth. For football fans there is a "natural pitch", and for those seeking an adrenalin rush, there is a climbing wall designed by Heli Putz.

There is an "adventure climb", and a so-called "bad weather station" where you can gain an insight into how bats live. At the nearby "Bamhittl" from where you have stunning views down to Hallstatt and across the entire Inner Salzkammergut region.

Exhibition: Dachstein under climate change inside the stone cabins

The Alps are a region that is particularly changed by the changing climate of the world. Four themed huts on the Schönbergalm, at the middle station of the Krippenstein cable car in Obertraun, depict the "Alpine Spaces in Climate Change". Several panels in each hut each deal with a sub-aspect - from "Spaceship Earth" to cultural-historical backgrounds and the sensitive mountain landscape on the effects on alpine tourism. The exciting presentation of important findings about one of the most burning topics of our time is available free of charge.

get off at the bus station “Obertraun Dachsteinseilbahn”

by train:
from Linz/Salzburg to Attnang-Puchheim, change to train to Stainach-Irdning
or from Stainach-Irdning Zug direction Attnang-Puchheim
get off at train station "Obertraun-Dachsteinhöhlen", from there 45 minutes to walk or change to the bus
