Footpath into the Hallstatt high valley

The footpath into the Hallstatt High Valley is now closed until spring 2027. The high valley is currently only accessible via the cable car.

Closure of the Sophienbrücke in Bad Goisern

The Sophienbrücke is from now on opened for pedestrians and cyclists, closed for cars.

Closure on Forststraße / Marienruhe Hallstatt

Due to tree felling work in the area of Forststraße above the Roman Catholic parish church, roads will be closed from calendar week 11 (9 March 2026). This affects the road to Marienruhe from the cemetery and Forststraße from the crossing with Mühlbach.

The closure is expected to last until the end of the year.

Road closure – Renovation of the "Bäckerbrücke" in Gosau

The "Bäckerbrücke" in the Gosau municipal area is undergoing extensive renovation on behalf of the Province of Upper Austria. Construction work will begin on 3 August 2026 and is expected to be completed by 11 December 2026.
To ensure access during the construction period, a temporary bridge will be erected. Traffic will be channelled via the temporary bridge in a single lane and controlled by traffic lights. 
This may result in waiting times, particularly during peak hours.

We ask all road users for their understanding regarding these necessary measures and urge them to exercise particular caution in the vicinity of the roadworks.

Closure of Gosauleitenstraße

Due to timber harvesting, Gosauleitenstraße will be closed from 20 August 2026 until, it is expected, 25 September 2026.

Road closure between Raschberg and Sandlingalm

Due to timber harvesting operations, which are being carried out using a tilting-mast cable winch, the road between the Raschberghütte and the Sandlingalm is closed.
The closure will begin on 27 August 2026 and is expected to last until 25 September 2026.

Rail replacement service: Attnang – Puchheim / Bad Ischl / Steeg-Gosau

From 10 October 2026 to 1 November 2026, a rail replacement service will operate between Attnang – Puchheim and Steeg-Gosau. 
PLEASE NOTE: Bicycles cannot be carried on buses operating as part of the rail replacement service!

Road closure: Waldbachleitenstraße Hallstatt

Due to urgently required renovation works, Waldbachleitenstraße will be closed from Echerntal, Hallstatt, to the Waldbachstrub bridge from 9 September to 11 September 2026

Closure of Seestraße in Hallstatt

The resurfacing of Seestraße in Hallstatt (from Polreich to the war memorial) will begin on 5 October 2026 and is expected to last until 25 June 2027, with a break in works from 21 December to 11 January. The project is being carried out on behalf of the Province of Upper Austria.

Important information for businesses in the market area: Deliveries and collections are only permitted between 05:00 and 08:30; after that, there will be a complete traffic ban, including bicycles and e-scooters. Please inform your suppliers and hauliers in good time. Access via Gosaumühlstraße will remain open to cars, controlled by traffic lights.

Good news for visitors: the market will remain accessible on foot at all times. Throughout the closure, a 2.5-metre-wide strip will always remain clear – for pedestrians to pass through, for pushing bicycles, and for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
