Lake kayaking and canoeing in the Dachstein Salzkammergut
White-knuckle and more leisurely canoeing on Lake Hallstatt
Lake kayaks are 5 metres long, and unlike conventional wild water kayaks, have a special controlling device and isolated storage spaces in order that equipment can be stowed away dry. And so you can glide gracefully and gently across the lake and allow the beautiful surrounding scenery to take its effect on you.
Courses are available for beginners wishing to learn how to handle the kayaks efficiently. Those with more experience can also take part in a course in order to improve their technique. You are then all set to explore, either by yourself or with a guide, the fjord-like Lake Hallstatt in these fast, manoeuvrable boats.
If you prefer to travel at a more leisurely pace and enjoy the wonderful Dachstein Salzkammergut scenery, a canoe might be more up your street. Two to three people fit into each canoe. You will find canoes very stable and that they hold a steady course. A very relaxing way to explore the lake.
