No matter what material and what craftsmanship - everything about craft is possible in the OTELO. The OTELO invites people to exchange ideas, experiment and try out in groups.

What does OTELO offer?

In the OTELO inspiring community rooms invite you to share and realize visions and ideas regardless of interests, age, origin, gender or other affiliation. It is about having fun sharing knowledge and experience and having fun together.

In addition to the offer of open spaces to live creative and technical activities in the fields of technology, media and art, OTELO accompanies people in the development and implementation of their own ideas in the region. You will be supported in the planning and implementation of your own projects away from urban conurbations with the help of free basic infrastructure, common rooms and small laboratories. Content-related impulses will be set by workshop programs.

Developed in 2009, the first 2 OTELOs started in 2010 in Gmunden and Vöcklabruck. The idea was and still is to connect creative people in rural areas and to develop a regional culture of innovation. A noteworthy network has now emerged from this idea with currently 36 locations and 80 nodes.

All OTELOs are supported by local associations, the connecting element for joint networking is the Otelo-Charta. This includes the basic attitude and binds and connects all locations with each other.

Everything about craft

Everything related to handcraft is possible in the OTELO, no matter what material is used or what craftsmanship is shown. In addition to the handcrafts, a great attention is also paid to the subject’s art and culture like calligraphy, cinema or literature.

OTELO lives from the idea of giving people an open space for creative and technical activities and offers a protected development and experimentation space for joint work.

Great emphasis is placed on working on the subject areas without pressure, constraint or specification. It is about appreciative recognition of personal potential and free development. Encounters, exchanges and the joint inspiration are the focus here.

The OTELO nodes

With the node model, Otelo enables groups to use a room in the OTELOs free of charge and without pressure on results. At the nodes, people meet in groups to exchange ideas, experiment and try out what they find exciting. The basic philosophy is that nothing that works or that can be exploited has to be created.

The OTELO is located in Bad Goisern opposite the Protestant church. Turn at the traffic circle towards the center, at the intersection straight ahead and after a few meters you will reach the destination on the right.
