International Sparkassen Lake Hallstatt Run

The Lake Hallstatt Run is set against a breath-taking mountain backdrop.

Our region became a World Heritage Site in 1997, and this sporting event has become very special to us. The challenging half marathon has been taking place since 1997, and each year attracts more than 800 runners. Coincidentally, the population of this small lakeside settlement is also around 800.

The route includes sections of tarmac road as well as gravel. One of the highlights is the crossing of a swing bridge on the eastern side of the lake. The bridge is located above the deepest part of the lake.

The start of the event is the petrol station in Lahn. The route covers a total of 21 km – 13 km of tarmac roads and 8 km of gravelled trails. The finish line is on the market square in the centre of the World Heritage Village Hallstatt.  All along the route there are views of Lake Hallstatt. There are refreshment stations for the runners after every 5 km.
