Our crystal clear lakes await you!

The Salzkammergut is famous for its water diversity. More than 70 lakes make the landscapes so unique and endearing, numerous rivers and streams glide through the villages and towns.

In our Holiday Region Dachstein Salzkammergut, the river Traun accompanies you from Obertraun to Bad Goisern, the mystical Lake Hallstatt welcomes you and the Lake Koppenwinkel in Obertraun enchants you, the reflection of the Dachstein in the crystal clear Lake Gosau fascinates you, the beauty of the Upper Lake Gosau and the naturalness of the "Gosaulacke" impresses you, the Gosaubach follows you through the Gosau valley and the Waldbachstrub in the Echerntal awaits you in Hallstatt.

Our two largest lakes, Lake Hallstatt and Lake Gosau, are suitable for all kinds of water fun both in summer and winter - from ice diving to stand-up paddling to leisurely swimming. The water temperatures rise up to 24 degrees in summer and offer ideal conditions for refreshment on hot summer days. Not to forget that the public bathing areas and lidos are free of charge and the water is of drinking water quality!
